Introducing the Silver Series: a new way to build your jewelry skills

Have you taken our Intro to Jewelry class and want to dive deeper into metalsmithing? The Silver Series is a new 4-week intermediate workshop launching this August that will give you the time and tools to take your jewelry making to the next level.

Running every Thursday evening from 6–8pm (August 6, 13, 20, and 27), each class introduces new techniques through a complete, wearable project. This course is designed to build on the sawing, riveting, filing, and finishing skills learned in intro to Jewelry.

Four weeks. Four projects. Here’s what the series looks like week by week:

  • Week 1: Stamped Cuff Bracelet: Stamping, annealing, bracelet forming, patina, and polishing.
  • Week 2: Textured Earrings: Learn to make your own ear wires, use a doming block, texture metal, and refine your sawing.
  • Week 3: Stacker Rings: Strengthen your soldering skills while sizing and forming ring bands.
  • Week 4: Scrap Pendant: Work smarter by repurposing leftover scrap material into a hammered stamped pendant with handmade jump ring or make a pair of stud earrings using a shot plate.

Class fee: $199

A note on materials: Unlike our other classes, supplies will not not included in the class cost. Students should budget approximately $120–140 for sterling silver stock, which can be ordered through Rio Grande or picked up locally at SJ Jewelry Supply. A material list will be provided at sign up.

Spots are limited. Reach out to our member services team for more information or visit the makerspace to speak directly to our jewelry instructor.
