In the Making: bringing 2D art to 3D printing

Our prototyping staff has been experimenting with a new technique and technology to create multi-colored, multi-layered prints from digital illustrations. Using the software Hue-Forge, our Prototyping Specialist Heather created this 3D print containing more than 50 layers, 11 colors, and lots of patience to bring their original character drawing to life.

Hue-Forge automates color and layer management for multi-filament prints and leverages filament opacity, which allows for dynamic and detailed objects using a single print head.
